A book detailing 100 years of the Red Cross in Victoria called ‘The Power of Humanity’ has been presented to the Yarrawonga Library to include in the local collection.
Malcolm Browning presented the book to library staff Kerry Currie and Marg Ritchie, speaking about the various theatres of war and countries in which nurses served.
The book was printed to celebrate 100 years of the Red Cross in Victoria, a milestone celebrated in 2015.
The Yarrawonga Red Cross unit, now referred to as the Yarrawonga and Mulwala branch, is one of only 28 units across the state which has had continuous service for those 100 years.
The Yarrawonga and Mulwala branch is small in member numbers but manages to raise money through sausages sizzles and raffles to assist with local and state emergencies.
Red Cross meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month. For further information call Narda on 5748 5900 or Jennie on 5748 7152.
