Imagine being sick in bed with no sheets, pillows, towel or face washer.
This is a sad reality in many rural hospitals in developing countries where BYO means something very different if you are a patient.
The Yarrawonga Mulwala Rotary Club has joined in with a district campaign to send these much needed items to the Baucau hospital in Timor-Leste, which services a population of 113,000.
Rotary member Jack Sterkenberg said Rotary would transport any donated goods to its base in Footscray where the items would then be sent to the hospital.
“We are hoping people will have some single bed sheets and blankets, pillows, pillow cases, towels and face washers in the back of their cupboard they may not need anymore,” Mr Sterkenberg said.
“If so then please don’t hesitate to contact the Rotary Club and we will come and get them”
Last year this initiative donated hospital beds and this year, Rotary’s aim is to provide the rest of the package.
