For the past three years the Yarrawonga Cobram YMCA has run a very successful exercise program on Fridays to benefit clients from PALS/Gorman House.
The activities, being part of an Access and Inclusion program, are held at the Sacred Heart gym or the pool.
The program greatly benefits both the clients, who interact on a social level in the community at the same time as improving their fitness and the students from Yarrawonga Sacred Heart College year 11 Allied Health Class who experience working in the community services field.
A similar fitness program is run weekly by the same group at St Joseph’s Primary School Cobram to provide interaction between their students and pupils from the Cobram Special Development School.
The YMCA is a not-for-profit organisation which relies on funding to help them keep going. The Yarrawonga Lioness Club recently voted to donate $300 to this very worthy cause and in presenting the cheque President Carol Cox passed on best wishes from the club to YMCA Group Fitness Instructor Sandra Becker, adding that she hoped the program would continue to provide these valuable benefits to all groups for a very long time.
